World Tuberculosis Day

World TB Day, which is observed on 24 March every year, is designed to raise public awareness regarding the epidemic of TB (tuberculosis) and efforts of eliminating the disease. The date marks the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Kochannounced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes TB, which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease.

The one-day summit will be held on 26 March in Bangalore.


Paralympic high jumper Girish Gowda appointed as new election ambassador for Karnataka

The state Election Commission roped in Girish N. Gowda, paralympic high jumper as the election ambassador of the Karnataka. A decision in this regard was announced by the state election commissioner Sanjeev Kumar.

  •  The appointment of the Gowda as the election ambassador will help the commission to motivate the people with special needs to exercise their right in a large number.


Raina becomes first player to score 5,000 IPL runs

Suresh Raina added another feather to his illustrious cap in Chennai as the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) batsman became the first in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to amass 5,000 runs. The Uttar Pardesh cricketer also has 35 fifties in the league beside a century, averaging 34.27.

  • Raina is followed by India skipper Virat Kohli, who has 4,954 runs from 164 games, containing four hundreds and 34 fifties.

China wins 2019 badminton Asia mixed team trophy

China won the 2019 badminton Asia mixed team championships by defeating Japan 3-2 in the final in Hong Kong. China took the lead 1-0 after He Jiting and Du Yue overcame Japanese pair Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino in the mixed doubles.
